    Thanks

    I have that very same version, but no option for 720x480.

      No, but typically AVI_IO or VirtualDUB can set a custom frame size when one at least as large as the one you're defining is available in the drivers.

      Example;

      I can capture *.avi's for later encoding to SVCD by setting the Marvel or eTV's YUY2 as the Format using a 704x480 frame size and then selecting a custom frame size of 480x480 in AVI_IO.

      This works with raw YUY2, HuffYUV and PICVideo MJPeg captures.

        I think I've found it - but Hauppauge have hidden this function very well

        1. Go to the "Sounds and Multimedia" settings dialog

        2. Go to the "Hardware" tab and here select "Legacy-Videocapturing device" or similar (don't know the real name in the english windows version).

        Click on the "Settings" (or "properties"?) button.

        3. In the next window go to the "Settings" (or "properties", whatever it's called in english) tab and select the Hauppauge WinTV capture driver.

        Click on the Properties button below.

        4. In the next window, again click on Properties/settings.

        5. Now we have already reached the interesting configuration dialog.

        Click on the "Format" tab.

        6. Here you see the 640x480 you're getting in the custom size field.

        7. Change the switch below from "Standard" to "CCIR601" and the resolution should change to the desired 720x480.

            My personal experience (in PAL mode) is that Picvideo gives better results if you don't check the "interlace" checkbox, no matter if the source you capture is really interlaced or not. The images I get are simply a lot sharper with less artefacts.
            Resistance is futile - Microborg will assimilate you.
