  • Newbie looking for resources...

I'm new to this video editing lark, so was hoping that some of you may have some handy websites to point me at.

I already have all the kit on order (DV camcorder, firewire card and editing software), so am looking for things that relate to editing in general rather than using any Matrox goodies.

I'm planning on using Pinnacle Studio 7 for editing the video as it seems a fairly solid bit of software for the price, and this is only a hobby rather than a professional enterprise. So if you have any handy sites that relate to that software, then it'd be a bonus.

For interest, I'm getting the Panasonic NV-DS27 camcorder. Doesn't have DV in enabled, but I have the technology to unlock it Seems a good camera for a good price. Maybe not all the gadgets and gizmos are present, but it's only for fun.

    TIA

You might pick up some useful info/links from DesktopVideoWorld , although (sadly) it's lacking in digital video stuff (my own fault, I'll get round to it one day).

Also get down to WH Smiths and buy Computer Video mag. Another source of info might be DVDoctor , I don't know how far Paul & co have got with the main site but the forum is pretty varied.

        Cheers

Here is one of my favorites. Although it is geared towards ripping DVD's, there are a lot of useful guides to a lot of video tools and good explanations about different formats and he is always up to date on the newest SW.
