  • need to copy vhs to hard disk, but it's saying it is copy protected, help! (please)

I am trying to put an old VHS tape onto my hard drive for editing and titling (the tape contains home video's) but i am getting an error message and it says the source is copy protected. is there a software hack around this? i've emailed matrox and they said that there's nothing thy can do. i don't want to spend any money. please help

Sounds like a classic case of the "false macrovision" problem where the Marvel mistakes a camcorder tape for a protected tape.

Try Sun's macrovision hack in the downloads section. Be sure to match the patch to your version of the drivers and Videotools.

I've never tried it, but other have reported some success.

Click on the left hand frame's "Download" link. Its "Sun's VT1.51" or "VT1.52" to match your version.

As I said, I've never tried them.

Of course, if you hopped in from another MURC forum then you won't have the left frame that Wally mentions - and you'll have missed out on half the fun too.

Go www.desktopvideoworld.com and have a ball
