  • New VT for win2k hangs

The new video tools beta drivers for win2k hangs when I try to use the the mjpeg hardware or tv-tuner. I have successfully used "hacked" nt4 drivers for some weeks now, and have never experienced any serious problems with these drivers. But when I installed the new video tools, nothing works! The card also works perfectly in win98se.

I uninstalled the old nt4 video tools before I installed the new beta drivers, and I'm also using PD 5.06 beta.

    Please help...

    My config:

The software is in BETA stage as you yourself said and was probably only released because a lot of people screamed to much!

Look if Matrox only released "beta" drivers because we've been bitching they are idiots.

Beta is supposed to mean they think they are close and need feedback on a bigger varity of systems. This is to avoid the real support nightmares stemming from bad "official" drivers. That's when the real bitching would start!

OTOH on a w2k system with "hacked" NT4 drivers how can you be sure you've un-installed everything? Are these "hangs"
occuring on other "virgin" w2k systems or only on the ones previously using "hacked" NT4 drivers? Key info that only becomes available if people "bitch"!

Wooow, it works!! A fresh install of win2k solved everything. Guess some of the NT4 stuff was not properly uninstalled.

I'm getting a PC lockup, when I try to run the tuner auto channel select part. But I haven't had chance to uninstall the old drivers properly yet, I just popped the new ones over the old. So I'm hoping a good clearout will fix it. Have Matrox released an uninstall program for Win2000 like they have available for W98?

I had the same problem with the lockup. I did a marginal uninstall, and the problem didn't go away. Then when I really went through the registry and hard disk and deleted everything connected with Matrox, I was finally able to get a working version of the new tools.
