  • 2 Windows 2000 issues fixed

I have had difficutly getting my new Marvel G400 running under Windows 2000.

Two problems I have resolved appear to be new to this discussion board:

    1. Capture / Vidcap crashing the PC. Eventually resolved once I replaced my generic PCI Yamaha soundcard with a AWE 32 and problem went away. I had tried EVERY other suggestion on this board to no avail.

    2. Tools refusing to run under any account except as administrator.

The tools only seem to want to run under the acccount used to install them. I got round this by editing PCVCR shortcut to take advantage of the RUNAS service so it runs under a local administrator account.

Perhaps this could be useful for the FAQ

Now if someone can help me by suggesting how to get MS Media Encoder working..(see other thread)

    you know

Im having the exact same problem with capture crashing the pc.. Does your capture work at all or does it just crash everytime?

For me capture works great, except it sometimes will bomb out and blue screen or just reboot completely.. I switched to winxp, tried all kinds of tweaks, upgraded my motherboards bios, installed the latest via 4in1's and it still does it... I too am using a yamaha sound card, although its not generic im going to get a turtle beach santa cruz this week and see what happens..

I know this current sound card I have is causing my frame drop problem(about 2 per minute) and I have read that switching to the turtle beach should solve this problem as well, hopefully.. I see compusa has the turtle beach this week for $59.99 so im gonna pick up one of those...
