  • MPEG2 and MediaPlayer

After encoding MJPEG to MPEG2 (.mp2) with the LSX-Transcoder it is not possible to view the file with Media Player 6.4 - the player tries to download a codec and never succeeds.
As far as I know MP 6.4 is able to read MPEG-2 files - so where is the problem??

    Thanks fpr your help
    Werner

Media Player does not play MPEG2 files normally. However, LSX MPEG Encoder 3 comes with the ability to have media player play MPEG2 files. I'm not sure whether that was a separate install than the encoder or not. I'm pretty sure it wasn't. In any case, if it is on your system, i think you need to configure it before use, after which you can get media player to play MPEG2.

      Hi Werner,

you have to install the DVD-player which comes with the G400. Then you should be able to play MPEG2-files with the MediaPlayer.

      Bye, Uwe.

        UWE,
        I am confused (own a Marvel G400).
What do you mean 'DVD player which comes with G400...' ?
Maybe the setting for Dual Head DVDmax ? It works for me.

          Hi Fred,

I meant that you only will be able to play MPEG2-files with MediaPlayer if you have any MPEG2-hardware or software decoder installed. One possible solution is to install the (Ravisent) Matrox-DVD-player from the G400-CD .
Please have a look at this:

          Bye, Uwe.

            Thanks, Uwe,
            ...shame on ME!
Because I have not a DVD player in my computer, I've completly forgot the Ravisent DVD on the G400-CD. Installed it and the M$MP works with MPEG2. Unfortunately, my AMD K6/2-400 and 64 SDRAM are not enough to show smooth mpeg2.
            Thanks anyway.
            Regards, Fred H.
