    I'd not mix functions on one board as the Audigy does. If one dies you're stuck replacing both functions instead of just the failed one.

    I've had very good results with these IEEE-1394 boards;

    ADS Pyro
    SIIG DV Cam Kit (3 port)

      And can anyone confirm my problem with low-res captures - is this due to my cheap Firewire card?
      Your cheap firewire card is NOT the source of your problems. DV 'captures' can only be at 720*480 (NTSC) or 720*576 (PAL). It's probably some parameter set up with your windows system.

      My cheap card £22
      bough from here works fine, originally under WinME and now Win 2000 Pro SP2.

        I'm glad there's also other satisfied users of the Audigy. Got one meself. So far to the full satisfaction.

        @Pace

        It does not come with video editing software though. Also you gotta be carefull in what kind of mobo you put it. There are still issues with this card in combination with VIA chipsets.

        Additionally if you wish to purchase it. Firewire works on the cards DSP, which will be slower then a real firewire card. So forget about getting the maximum 400Mb/sec speed for a real firewire card from it. You will start noticing this if you are really using the Audigy sound options in combination with the firewire port at the same time.

        The Canon card is a cheap and standard 20 in a dozen firewire card which works great. it's a basic Taiwanese FW100 card with the TI chipset. It probably came in one of those noname A5 sized purple boxes? At least here in Holland you can already get 1 of those cards for about Euro 20. There is offcourse no software with it then.

        Regards, Leon
