Anoying Monitor Sound

My 17" digital monitor has an anoying sound when it's set to higher resolutions then 800x600... the sound isn't loud but very anoying... does anyone know how to fix this? i dont want to buy a new monitor beacuse it works just fine else.

My 15" monitor sometimes makes funny noises when I switch it up to 1280x1024. I usally hit it and it stops. Not very scientific but it seems to work for me. Although do be carefull not to hit it too hard it might fall on the floor and break.
