  • Can't capture over 320x240

I have a WinTV Theater card, with the latest WDM drivers and I cannot capture at anything over 320x240. I have tried the AMCAP that came with the WinTV, AVI_IO, and Premiere, and none have let me capture at a higher resolution. When I use AMCAP, however, I can capture at the higher resolution (720x480), but the framerate is around 15 when it is set for 29.97, and it says it captured at an actual 56 fps. I believe my hardware can support this, check my sig.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I was never able to capture higher than 320x240 with the WDM drivers.
However if you install the VFW drivers (yes, they work VERY fine in Win2k), you can capture 720x480@30fps (NTSC) or 768x576@25fps (PAL).

      Hi,

Definitely use the VFW drivers. Also, keep in mind that you need to turn off Preview and Overlay options when capturing over 320x240. Otherwise, it does not capture the 2nd field.

Just my 2 cents, but ditch the capture tools that came with the WinTV. Use AVI_IO or similar for your captures.

Also, read Indiana's posts on the following thread:

It'll show you how to enable 720x480 capturing in Win2k.
