  • DV benefits in XP?

    Hello,

I have been considering moving to WindowsXP from Windows2000. Does anyone know if there are any DV editing benefits in XP vs Win2K?

    Thank you

    None whatsoever.

In fact, I see zero reason to "upgrade" to XP if you are running w2k.

      Right, right, right, Wally.
Why upgrade to something so unstable as XP.
The happyest day I remember is when I installed W2K Pro in dual boot. Everything is a compromise. Chose the best.
      Run W2K Pro.
      I run PD 5.39 (not 5.72) no hacked files + VT 2.04(leaked)
I can capture HW MJPEG and Pic Video MJPEG.
Sure, there are some problems, but nothing is perfect, here in the world.
W2K Pro is the way to go (thanks Wally for an earlier advice for it)
NB. I am working only with analog video.

I think the next "big" upgrade for me will be to build a 64-bit capable system around the upcoming AMD "ClawHammer" processor.

According to the Anandtech site, they'll begin sampling by the second half of this year (2002).

I'll be ready for an upgrade from my current home system, a 1.4gHz AMD Athlon Thunderbird, probably by the first half of 2003.

By then, hopefully, everything will be sorted out and tested.
