  • 2 gig file limit on XP?

If I use Windows 2000 or XP and format my hard drives as NTFS, can capture larger chunks than 2 or 4 gb with my Marvel G400 card.

If not, then can I atleast edit chunks together using a package and play these larger than 2/ 4 gig chunks back seamlessly... if so which package is best for doing this.

Playback using AVI_IO has been choppy for me... when it jumps from file 1 to file 2 then file 3 I get chop... and then audio sync issues.

Perhaps im just terminally stupid... I even paid for AVI_IO and havent relaly been able to use it for playback. Capture is ok though, suprisingly enough.

    Any ideas.

    Hi,

nobody´s terminally stupid on this forum. We´re here to help each other out.
Somebody correct me if I´m wrong, but the 4 GB file size limit is, contrary to many beliefs, a Video for Windows issue. Since I´ve been using NTFS in XP, I have tried to create and play back AVI´s larger than 4 GB, but they allways get f**ked up, either by losing picture, being uncontrollable in the player app or by hanging the system.
So, in my opinion, convert your segments to something within the limit, or get AVI_IO to play back your segments the way it should.
If you paid Markus for it, he should be willing to help you sort the playback prob.

    take care
