  • Marvel G400 TV: noisy left and bottom borders

I have successfully installed my Marvel G400 TV but there is still one problem.
I get a black irregular border on the left of the movie screen (I mean it does not look like a nice, stripe shaped, black border) and I get a border of noise at the bottom. These borders are maybe 5 % of the total viewable video screen but they make the video look unprofessional. I only get this borders with composite input, using a camcorder or video recorder. I do not get this borders via tv input. Is there anyone who has an idea of what happens?

Actually, if you look hard enough, you'll notice you have a black border on the top of your screen as well. Specifically, 5 pixels shifted to the right and 8 pixels shifted down...

Apparently this is just how the Matrox card operates, and I've made some noise about it in the past, but I don't know if anything will ever be done about it. It's ok for normal tv out related stuff, because the television doesn't show those sides, but working with moving paths can be a real pain because the image is "bordered"... you have to crop before hand.

As for the noise at the bottom, Matrox sez it's dependent on your source input. Have you tried S-video input?

You can always crop your output material a few pixels either way to get rid of the unwanted noise.
