  • how to disable macrovision from g400/w2k?

    God damned!
My secondary output is to tv and whenever I try to watch macrovision protected dvd from tv,screen just keep flashin.
    F*ckin annouying!
I'm sick and tired of this problem and I'm ready to swap my
matrox to nvidia/ati card anyday now,if there is no solution.
I know there are somekind of "hacks" around for marvel tv cards,
but those hacks don't work with my g400.
    Any help appreciated,thanks.

You might want to try out this hack I am not sure if you have tried it as yet.

Problem remains the same. There is no way(not that I know)
to install Video tools for regular G400 dualhead max.
I mean Video tools installer does not find suitable hardwade to
      allow installation.
      Thanks anyway.

I'm off to nVidia. Matrox suck also with MPEG4 anyway.

Trinidad, the link is just for disabling macrovision on capture, not on tv-out.

There are (were?) tricks to disable macrovision on the G400, some of them are posted on www.digital-digest.com (do a search on macrovision on that site).

btw. if you want to watch stuff with yout g400 to tv, don't loop the output through a vcr, as that will activate macrovision.

It's silly to think that this doesn't happen with other brands: Macrovision is not an option, but it's legally forced for copyrighted contents. All videocards with tv-out (should) have it.

btw. there have been many, many posts of how you can fix the MS MPEG4 problem (if you're referring to DivX 3.x playback), which is due to a codec problem, not a problem with the Matrox cards. Just do a search on this forum for mpeg4 and overlay
