I have the "known" problem with 2GB limit in windows. I need to edit a video in Adobe Premiere 6.0 and the file is larger than 2GB (7.5GB). I need a plug-in or something like this to export the movie to several files....
Thanx...
The limit is 4 gigs in Win9x if you have an OpenDML compliant codec and are using FAT32.
In WinNT/2000/XP using the NTFS filesystem and a DirectShow codec it's virtually unlimited.
I know of no Premiere plugin that allows multiple file export other than the drivers for hardware like the RT-2000, which can export as either large single files (in NTFS) or multiple 4 gig files.
What you could do is set a work area that would come out to ~2 gigs and export that. Set another work area abutting the first and export that. Keep going 'til you run out of video to export.
Another option would be to export it to MPEG-2, which should be considerably smaller than an *.avi (presuming that's what you're working on).
You have two free options for creating decent MPEG's in Premiere6:
1. the bbMPEG freeware plugin
2. frameserving TMPGEnc using the AVISynth plugin for Premiere
#'s 1 would be the easiest. #2 is more difficult, but gives better results.
