I am looking to buy a video editing kit for home use -- mostly editing home videos. I have a G400 (32MB OEM), PIII-450, 128 RAM, 13GB drive, and a Sony DCR-TRV315 NTSC digital camcorder.
I know a natural choice is a Matrox RR board, but I don't know that much (yet) about what I need for decent video editing, and if the RR is the best choice -- actually I've been having a little difficulty finding it in the local electronics shops. I did see a kit made by Dazzle that looked pretty good ($250 US). I liked the external connection box because it's kind of a pain to access the back of my computer on a regular basis; it seems to come with similar (to RR) software by Ulead, but as far as specifications...I don't know.
Does anyone have any other recommendations, or reasons why I should stick with the Matrox RR?
