  • Using Rainbow Runner/Marvel with Adobe Prem.5

Why cant i get premiere 5 to work with the Mystique220 Rainbow Runner or the Marvel G200, It used to work well at one time till i reinstalled my computer, but now when ever you create a video it just drops all the video when it has an effect to process or you move the mouse.

I rang Matrox they said, Adobe dont support Matrox so we dont support Adobe. Then he told me so if you actually bought Premiere youve just wasted your money. (isnt that a bit cheeky)
But matox made presets for the rainbow runner in Premiere. So what he actually told me is a load of rubbish.
I then corrected the person at matrox by saying well actually i think ive wasted my money buying your products.

How can i get Premiere to run happily with either the rainbow runner or the Marvel G200

Any tips that anyone can give me i would really appreciate.

You say that it drops the video as it exports to hard disk, or as you preview from the timeline?

In the first case, Matrox's codec could conceivably be at fault when Premiere goes to render an effect, but the mouse-move thingy doesn't make sense at all. Any more detail you can supply?

Matrox were actually telling the truth (although perhaps in a rather arrogant manner). If you examine Adobe's own Premiere website you will find a list of supported devices. This is a very short list.

Some people have had success with Premiere and Matrox equipment, but from the number of posts here it seems that it is never a painless process.

In your own case, make sure that you have run the Matrox QuickConnect and HDcheck utilities first. Then apply the presets as prescribed. Also, if you use the forums "search" function then you should be able to find many threads from people who have been through a similar process to yourself.

      Cheers

Well basically when you play back any video within Premiere, (Preview, Exported)(The same thing happens in After Effects 4) When you move the mouse the video screen just goes blank untill you stop moving the mouse. The same thing is apparent when viewing the output on the TV. Its really weird it doesnt do this with a matrox Mjpeg file in any other programs e.g. Media Player.

I am using Matrox Powerdesk drivers Revision 4.31.041 on the Mystique 220 as suggested to use with the rainbow runner studio 2.10 drivers.

I am not sure what version of drivers i am using on the computer with the Marvel, but this doesnt suffer from the dropping video when using the mouse just when it has more complicated work to do (in premiere)

I am just about to try going back to Premiere 4.2 on my Mystique 220 computer.
The rough spec of this machine is, Intel 440lx board, 128MB ram, 2x 8.4GB Quantum Harddisk, Hauppage WinTV PCI (that gives me a thought i wonder if the TV card is causing conflicts), Creative DVD card (this is currently not installed as i just got it back from repair), Dlink Network, Zip Drive, Epson Printer, Soundblaster live, Cd writer,
I have had to disable parralel port and 1 serial port to free up interupts.

I will try removing the TV card and Drivers and also Try going back to prem 4.2 and let you know what happens

        Cheers For your advice

          mstott,

Are you using a serial mouse by any chance ?

For the last couple of years, I have been noticing that systems with PS2 mouses have less problems.

I set up my Rainbow Runner-G yesterday, having had it doing nothing since just before Christmas. Other than an initial problem with AVI_IO crashing my PC (Markus Zingg was good enough to sort that out - Thanks Markus ) I have been very suprised by just how well Premiere works with the RR-G. I certainly don't suffer from any problems if I move the mouse while playing back a file. I'll be experimenting a little more tonight if I get time.
