  • RT 2500 W/Pent ll

Before I run out and buy a RT 2500 I need two things answered.

    1. Can I import a tape via the RT 2500 to DVD MPEG 2 format and directly author a DVD (perhaps Ulead DVD Factory) without rendering?

    2. Will My Intel Pent lll 850 with a Intel SE440BX-2 motherboard, 384 Ram, and 80 gig Maxtor ATA 133 handle the MPEG -2 stream in real time?

    Thank you

I have an RT2000, but basically the features are the same, so...

    1) Yes you can capture in real time as MPEG2 IBP either CBR or VBR suitable for DVD authoring. Haven't tried with Ulead DVD factory though (as I don't have a DVD writer). Although this feature sounds great, you may want to capture a I frame only in order to edit - even if this is just trimming the start end to make things "tidy" and then render to IBP. You can not edit the IBP files with premiere. You "might" (haven't tried this) be able to edit (trim) the IBP files using something like Womble MPEG2 VCR - I don't know.

    2) I am using a PIII 850 on a BX board with 512MB ram and a raid array, but you should be okay with you single Maxtor.

Thank you! It seems the RT 2500 will do what I want. Transfer the tape output, into a Authoring program ( I use DVD fActory and for want it for it is perfect.).
