  • How to accelerate rendering process in VS

    Is there any way to accelerate the rendering process in Videostudio 6 (without upgrade hardware)?

    I have AMD K6-II (475) and 192MB RAM.

    I do defrag the HDD every time before rendering. and yet 2 minutes of combined movie together with images and titles takes more then a hour to render as a DV AVI file.

    I also notice that converting an AVI to MPEG is ten times slower in VS than it is in other convertors (such as TMPGEnc.) under the same conditions and MPEG parameters. Should it be like this? and why?

    VS MPEG encoder sucks. Your encoding time will also suck until you get a faster CPU. Video encoding loves eating CPU cycles.

      Sorry, but I don't concur as to the MPEG quality. The MPEG encoder in VS6 is actually somewhat better than that in the DVD MovieFactory or MSPro 6.5. Check it for yourself;

      MSPro 6.5/DVD MF on the left, VideoStudio 6 on the right

      Pretty obvious to me that they've been doing some work....

      Otherwise I do agree: faster rendering is almost purely a CPU issue. Get a faster system and your times will reduce. Other factors are almost inconsequential by comparison.
