    There aren't but a handful of customers in the world that would have a need for terabyte storage discs but I would hope that the technology would be used to offer less capable and less expensive solutions

      And lets not forget that;

      1. NTFS can produce 2 terabyte files.

      2. HDTV will use bitrates that make todays editing systems look lame.

        How many terabyte databases are you aware of? I'm sure, as the history of computing has taught us, that we will one day more commonly push up against terabyte boundaries but I don't see many instances of that currently.

        HDTV bitrates do present a storage problem as we currently need to cache content onto HDDs and data transfer speeds from backups take an inordinate amount of time to make that content available for viewing.
