  • Recommended Codec

    Hi All!

    I'm using Matrox Mill II and RR for my video grabbing and MSP 6.0 for editing my video projects.

    I still haven't figured out how I can run this configuration under Win2000 and therefore must have my PC set up with both Win98 and Win2000. I use Win98 for my grabbing and editing, Win2000 for everything else.

    Is there anybody who has been able to run Mill II and RR with Win2000?

    I will try to convert all my Matrox MJPEG files to a codec which is not dependant on Matrox hardware. What is the recommended codec to use?

    Thanks,
    Rune

    PICVideo is hard to beat. Not sure if it will work in your configuration, but I believe it will.

      Ted222's right: PICVideo MJPeg is very hard to beat for several reasons;

      1. it natively supports the Matrox MJPeg format (dmb1).

      2. it's blistering fast, even on 300-400 mhz systems.

      3. its quality 19 setting very closely approximates the Matrox codecs highest setting of 6.6:1 compression @3.1 mb/s

      4. its quality 20 setting provides VERY high quality output at between 5 and 8 mb/s, depending on the clips content. This setting is great for adding special effects to a project.
