I've had a Rainbow Runner G-series for about two years now. I added it on to my G400 32MB DH card.
Since I have had it, I have never been able to get clear reception on the TV input. The only way things look good is if I use a VCR as a tuner and input the video into the card. For the longest time I thought it was just my fans causing EM interfierence. But a friend of mine told me that this should not be happening. Does any one have any suggestions?
I have tried fine-tuning the signals manually as well as using the channel scanner program. Some stations come in OK, but most don't. Input is coming from Cable, so it shouldn't be a problem of signal strength.
Is this common? What's going on?
Also, on another note, when I try to encode some video, every 4 minutes or so, I get a massive loss of frames. It seems like something is accessing my secondary HD which I am ripping to. It's quite a long burst, so probably several megs of data. But it only happens every couple of minutes. And it seems to be totally random. I am using virtual dub which is supposed to be better than matrox's PC-VCR. Plus with the amount of ram that I have, it shouldn't be a system problem. Any thoughts?
