  • MSPro users: VOTE ON THIS!! Involves Video Server......

The guys at http://www.videotools.net are taking a poll as to what they should spend their programmig time on.

So far there is a tie between creating an MSPro Video Server plugin and another less worthy option

    31% each.

    Go git 'em......

Please forgive my ignorance but what will an MSPro Video Server plugin actually allow you to do?

    regards,

Exactly what it says, serve video. In this case serve the video output from MSP frame by frame to another application for processing, like TMPGEnc.

        Exactly.

The way it does this is by writing each frame in turn to a pseudo *.avi file on the HDD. The target program can then load in this pseudo *.avi file and operate on the entire timeline in one gulp. TMPGEnc, VirtualDUB, DVD MovieFactory etc. etc. etc. ....basically about anything that can load an *.avi.

This saves a lot of time & space in that you don't have to first render an *.avi then encode it. Video Server lets you do the encoding and export at once, without having to use up the whole HDD for the *.avi.

Most excellent, certainly sounds like the worthiest choice of the two.

          thanks,

Just hope none of those damn Floridians show up...

I've bugged these guys a few times to see if it was under way and they said it was being looked into. It will make my life a lot easier as well.

            This changes everything. (Sounded cool)

47% and counting. Any word from these guys as to whether this is considered a serious project or is it just an information gathering exercise for a "nice to know" type deal?

Being a true idiot, how long does something like this take to develop, I am guessing quite a while. Of course it seems quite difficult to me. These guys might actually have something already in the works and just have to change a few lines of code to fit the Ulead SDK.

Maybe I should just stop contemplating and wait. If they ask, tell them I'm willing to pay for it!

I got mail from him the other day and he said they were looking at how to implement their existing system into MSPro's SDK now.

How long total develpment takes depends on how hard it'll be and we can't guess that. If they only have to change the code slightly then it'll be fast. Otherwise....

                            Yup, still climbing at 41%.

I wouldn't expect anything for at least a few more weeks. Creating something like this in software you've never programmed for can be tedious.
