I have some other ones, as well, like balderdash, poppycock, hogwash, bosh, hooey, cobblers and some more, bordering on the obscene, including that good old US male bovine excrement.

      I love this place!

Hiya Elie - I'm here every night (almost), but only chip in when I've something to contribute - and since I don't have AIW or RT2xxx and aren't (yet) into creating DVD-readable media, that isn't very often these days.

      Cheers
      Chris

Please no cross words because I do crosswords

If it does all you need, I vote for keeping it!

I agree if it works then keep it. Especially if your choices are Creative old or Creative new. That AWE64 is a good card, I just ran out of ISA slots...only one and that is for my scanner SCSI interface. The signal to noise ratio may not be as good as newer cards, but atleast it won't hose your system with bad drivers.

                Sciascia

I changed my ISA SCSI scanner card for a very cheap Adaptec PCI look-alike from China (about $15, I think). Don't regret it, as I was able to change the drivers for the Epson scanner to the much-improved 32 bit variety.

Now you just ruined my day. I bought htis MB with 1 ISA slot because I did not want to shell out for a new scanner. I ended up going with SDRAm instead of DDR as well. I had the money for the other stuff, I just didn't want to have to buy a scanner as well. Why didn't you stop me at the store??/

Of course I love my system so much right now. I can capture some phenominal DVD quality stuff with this new ATI. If I ever get a good source instead of teh tuner look out. It looks 10 times better than the ulead Ligos stuff.

I apologize for my going OT. It will happen again, just not in this thread.

I could be wrong but as I understand the root words, they tell much about the expression 'codswallop':

                      cods = male genitalia
wallop = to whack really hard

                      Now there's a tear-jerker for ya... Oooowwww!!!

As for soundcards, I recently invested in a Hoontech DSP24 Value. For half the price of a Terratec you get 24bit/96kHz stereo input and out. I can't say much more because I haven't installed it yet but the specs look good for getting started in multi-track audio recording if you're interested in that sort of thing...

                      Cheers,

As for sound cards, I'm using the M-Audio Delta 66 and love it. Solid drivers, no garbage installed and four channels with a built-in digital mixer. I picked it up for $200 on the bay.

The Delta's are using the same chip as the Terratec, If I recall correctly.

I read a review comparing various cards, the Terratec won over the Hoontechs, but not by much and the Hoontechs are supposedly cheaper. Can't find them here though so I went for the Terratec. It's relatively 'local' product (Germany, I'm in Belgium) and service is decent too. The digital optical Input was the thing that made me decide on the Terratec in the end - I now can capture my laserdiscs with direct digital audio

Yeas, I went for the Terratec 6Fire 24/96 and up to now am very happy with it. Really good sound, great front-panel (much better than the Live!Drive), Win2k drivers that are 1.6 MB in total and don't hose your system unlike Creatives 30+ MB ones, zero dropped frames during a one hour capture,....
