  • DV tape archiving

    Hey all,

    with a growing amount of tapes, i don't like to delete stuff at all, [my wife transfers all what we shoot onto VHS for easy use and safety -since all we really shoot i s our 18month girl!!!] I have alot o ftapes that we now label, but with about 40 tapes ++ it's getting difficult to find stuff, not to mention camera head wear to find a short clip to import for an edit.... after the long into !!! I'd like your feedback on how best is it to do the following;

    1) I'd like to serial number all my tapes [e.g. tape 001, tape 002...etc]

    2) Run them trough SOMETHING [software of some sort] that captures/READS DV content for SCENE DETECTION to mark how many scenes there are on the tape, where the time code is for each scene and to get a thumbnail from the begining of that scene.... too much eh ?

    3) All this info then needs to sit in a neat database for search, review... etc

    Anything out there today that can do all that for me in one go, or should i combine software.... what's the best way to do this ?
