  • Awfull Picture using TV Tuner in G450eTV

    Hi there.

I just purchased the Marvel G450eTV and I tried to watch TV on my PC, however the picture quality was awfull (couldn't be watched at all). The whole picture had horizntal lines and much "snow" in it. I am in a PAl area and have the right model (# MTVA32DRI). I run the Mtarox Quick connect, used Antenna as an option and all the channels it found were horrible in picture. Also, the "Add channels" option in PC-VCR yields no better results at all. I am using a cable which comes straight from the wall plug into the Marvel card to receive the TV signal, however evrything is all messed up when it comes down to picture quality.

Very dissapointing indeed. Is there something I can do ?

    Thank you in advance.

is the picture quality the same on a tv as your computer screen?
if they are both the same, then your cable signal isn't too great.

one thing to try is to select the cable option instead of antenna.

The picture is perfect on my TV so there is no signal problem. Moreover, things get worse when I chose Cable instead of antenna.

The auto channel detect has been a problem with PAL, what you should do is to reset to the defaults or reinstall the software and don't allow it to auto detect channels, it will already have presets for the channels which work fine. At least that works great for me in the UK.

It sounds like you're suffering from a "ground loop".

"Ground loops" happen because your PC is connected to ground through the power cable, but on the antenna socket also. This creates a huge "loop" that is susceptible to electromagnetic disturbance.

Try to unplug everything else (VCR,TV) from the antenna cable. If that doesn't help, I recommend you buy a ground loop filter (they only cost around € 5,- )
Resistance is futile - Microborg will assimilate you.
