Like Brian, I'm really liking Maxtor drives more and more. I now have six of them. Just built a new P4 1.8 (ASUS P4T-E) system and put a 20Gb Maxtor boot, two 60GB's in removeable caddies for capture and one 40Gb for edited projects. I still have 2 Maxtors in the old P-III networked by router and also linked with a KVM switch. I was a bit disappointed to find that the 60Gb Maxtor boxed drive is really of Quantum manufacture. Of course Maxtor will stand behind it with their usual (no questions asked) warranty.
So far the Maxtor drives have performed very well, capturing full res DV. These days I'm playing with OHCI and Vegas Video and the Maxtors are chugging right along with whatever I ask. I'm sure many are happy with Western Digital, but I had a couple of those die on me within the last year or two. I hadn't worked them very hard either. Perhaps it was just a bad lot.
p.s. I put a Matrox G550 dualhead in the new system so I'll have to start learning about all this dualhead stuff soon. I only have one head in use, for now.
