  • Need to convert mini plug from mono to stereo?

I need to convert the output of my Sony lavalier to mono mini plug to go into my Optura Pi. Right now I'm going XLR directly to stereo male mini plug. Problem is I'm only getting sound on one side (of course). I've been looking around for an adapter to convert female mini stereo to male mini mono but have had no such luck.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

the center ring and the tip are the left and right channels respectively... short these together (normally a red and white wire) and connect to the tip of the 1/8" mono mini

Thanks, I'm going to just cut the cable and make the connections.

That would be it. I knew I'd seen those before...now to just find an American vendor that carries them

I took my XLR to mini jack stereo cable and removed one of the XLR ends. I soldered the ground and hot of that end to the other XLR connector's ground and hot connection, basically doubling them up. Now I have a cable that will send the mono mic signal to both the left and right channels of the stereo mini jack.

Thanks for all the help guys.
