    Hello,

Thank you for writing. We do not have competitive upgrades here. However I have seen them at this address:

Also yes you could purchase VideoFactory and then Vegas Video 3.0 upgrade and save money that way. However, by doing this you need to wait until the VideoFactory serial number is received and registered then upgrade. Many customers can not wait or go through all that. But, yes if you are willing to, the prices are set.

    Subject: Buying Vegas Video 3.0

    Hello,

I intend to buy Vegas Video 3.0.

First of all I would like to know if any competitive upgrades exist. I own registered versions of both Adobe Premiere and Ulead although they are not recent versions.

Secondly I am a bit confused by the pricing policy : if I first buy VideoFactory 2.0 as a download version I pay about $57 and if then buy an upgrade to Vegas Video 3.0 I pay another $199, which totals up to to about $256 (nice number BTW). If on the other hand I buy Vegas Video 3.0 straight away I pay $419.

Can it be so simple to save $163 ?

    TIA,

    Farid

A similar thing can be done with MSPro and other programs. Often a VE or LE version of a program will come bundled with a hardware product and this can be upgraded far cheaper than buying the full version outright.

This is how I first bought MSPro 5. The list was in the $400 range, but I got 2.5 VE with my Rainbow Runner. The 2.5 VE to 5.0 update was only $150, which I jumped at.

I bought Media Studio Pro 5 for $50 at an egghead auction and updated to 6.0 and now 6.5

I bought the full version of 6.0 with the Pyro Firewire card from buy.com for $239 and upgraded to 6.5 for $59. They gave me a break since I just purchased the DVD software.

          Hi guys,

I bought Videofactory 2.0 for $57 and then upgraded to VV3 for $199, just like the lady said. Took me 15 minutes including registration, which is not too bad counting it saved me $163.

This option was about three bucks cheaper than the competitive upgrade and I got some free goodies on the side that were not in the demo version.

P.S.: Doc, I upgraded from Adobe 4.0LE that came with my Miro DC20 about 5 years ago to the full 4.0 version and to 4.2 afterwards. I refused to lay down money for 5.x and 6.x because the overall quality (stability) of the software regressed compared with 4.2. Looks like Premiere and me just split for now...
