ASF to AVI

I am looking to convert an old project that is in asf format to avi so I can play with it. I tried a few versions of virtualdub and asftools. Neither work for me. Are there any other options?

The reason I just don't use the original project is last year my office was broken in to and most everything was stolen including backups. So that is not an option.

Try loading into TMPEG. If you can happily load it into TMPEG then you could save the project file and load the project file into AviSynth (using VFAPI). Also try AviSynth's DirectShowSource() command. Failing that you might be able to using GraphEdit, but this is a rather crude method.
