  • Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong

    Athlon 1400, 512Mb, loads HD capacity, RT2000, Premier 6.02, MVT3.1, W2KSP2, SOnic DVDit LE 2.3. Pioneer A04

I am trying to put togethet my first very basic DVD

My problem is that when I try to import a video clip into DVDit the dam thing locks up and it needs task manager to end the task.

My original source is captured as Matrox DV/DVCAM ( Pal setup )
I have exported a movie ( portion of the time line ) as Matrox MPEG-2 IBP as it says in the maual.

According to the info I should be able to import that straight into DVDit.

I have also tried downloading a copy of the trial version of ULEAD DVD Workshop and it just point blank refuses to accept the output file also..

    Any suggestions guys

    Thanks

      Thanks for the info Ted

I have done a bit more digging about and I found out that if I'm using MVT 3.x I had to download the 200MB+ DVDIt 2.5LE as the earlier versions are not compatible.

I downloaded it overnight and installed it 1st thing and hey presto the Matrox MPEG-2 IBP files now go into DVDit.

      Whooppee !!! it's playtime again.

        YES !!!!!!!!!!!

        It works

I've just burned my first DVD.

I've got 3 dvd players in the house ( main one and one for each of the kids ). The dvd plays fine in the £90 Argos specials that the kids have but my 2 1/2 yr old philips 710 refuses to play it.

        Never mind

I'll just hijack one of the kids machines. Perks of being Dad.

Now the fun really begins. I've got a large archive of video that's going to find it's way onto DVD.

The first one will be my recent trip to Las Vegas.

Oh yes the quality. Superb but what else do you expect from a RT2000.

        Regards

Can anyone tell me why when I have used Matrox configuration utility to select software DV rendering mode and then make Premier export MPEG-2 IBP files for inpit into DVDit the Windows Task Manager shows that Premier is only using between 10 - 20% of available processor power.

Is it becuase it's using the RT2K card ?

          Regards

just a post to get the message back up there.

Can anyone suggest why premier is nut making full use of the CPU horsepower

            Regards

If you are in Matrox DV or Matoxc Mpeg-2 mode, The RT2000 is doing most of the processing in hardware, except when you need to render, in this case you have two choices, either software which takes full advantage of your CPU or it can be renered in hardware, wher the C-Cube chip on board the RT2000 will be used to render.

                Thanks Elie

I have already selected software rendering in the MAtrox configuration utility.

Do you have any other options

                Regards

Pooh, when you are rending out to Mpeg-2 IBP the C-Cube chip is doing the rendering not software, even though you have it selected.

All the Mpeg-2 IBP processing is always done internally in hardware which is why your own CPU utlization is low.

                  Don't worry nothing is broken

                  Cheers,
                  Elie
