Another reason to dislike XP

Not really relavent for a machine dedicated to video editing, but if you are a heavy multitasking user (like I am) sticking with W2K is the way to go!

Actually if you compare the PIII vs P4 numbers, once might conclude that XP is intensionally crippled on PIII to make P4 look much better in comparision!

Not sure how the info in the article relates to AMD CPUs.

Would be intresting to compare XP vs W2K on AMD as well, but you might find the extra PIII slowdown on XP applies to AMD chips as well.
