  • preview problems in premiere 6

I know this is an age old problem that I half solved in Premiere 5 but I have just aquired a firewire card and am using the Premiere 6 tryout. I can capture DV with no problems, no dropped frames, (unlike premiere 5 and analogue capture) but when I come to preview the timeline, it wont play at all. I can scrub it and preview transitions (unlike premiere 5 and analogue capture). I can export the movie to an avi and it plays in real one etc (not very well but thats another post for another day!)
I'm using a sunix ohci card with a g400 marvel, have 256 ram and a 750 processor. I have tried other editing packages, but like premiere the best, I got Ulead VideoStudio 4.0 SE Basic with the card but its horrible. Any ideas?

easy problem that's happening for diff reasons than it did in premiere 5.

    you have 2 options:
either disconnect your camera after capturing
or watch the previews on the camera

when you're editing in dv, and it detects a dv camera it will send the full preview to the camera and leave you with a choppy mess on the screen

Thanks, I think that has done the trick. Who'd have thought that just turning the camera off would solve it. I'm almost getting realtime previews of transitions too, a mixture of additive dissolve and a white cross - theres progress for you!
