I know that this may be a little bit off of the usual Matrox related topics, but I need to find out the best way to encode a project from Avid Xpress 3D (NT) to an MPEG2 file to be used with a product called AD Net. It is to be used for local spot insertion from a network feed to a transmitter. I know that I can output to an AVI file and then encode it, but I wanted to know if there was a plug-in or if there was a codec capable of compressing the file without converting it to an AVI first.

Just trying to keep the post alive. I really should have clarified the question with adding that the main problem isn't so much with the Avid files as it is that I have very little knowledge with NT. I'm not even sure if I can just add a MPEG2 codec to encode with in NT. Is it the same as in Win98, where I just put it in the system folder and then add a line in the driver system ini or is it different. When I go to export an AVI in the app, I can select the codec I want to use, but all I have is the lame one's that come with NT. It looks just like the window for '98 though, so if I add it, I should be able to use it. I know that NT uses it's drivers differently and since this is a fairly new system and it is at work, I don't want to hose it up. I'm not actually supposed to add any software to it at all and if I do I'm supposed to get it cleared through my command, (being in the military is so much fun). Anyway I do understand there stand point, there is alot of self proclaimed experts in the AF and there is a lot of problems that arise when these "experts" go screwing around with these systems. I have to deal with it everyday and the only real training I have is self taught at home and from all of you guys here at this forum. Since I started coming here, I have been elevated from shmuck to go to guy at work. So I guess a "Thank You for making me look good" is do.WinXP Pro SP2 ABIT IC7 Intel P4 3.0E 1024M Corsair PC3200 DCDDR ATI AIW x800XT 2 Samsung SV1204H 120G HDs AudioTrak Prodigy 7.1 3Com NIC Cendyne DVR-105 DVD burner LG DVD/CD-RW burner Fortron FSP-300-60ATV PSU Cooled by Zalman Altec Lansing MX-5021
