  • How do you output YUY2 to tape?

just having a bit of trouble outputting YUY2 files to tape using Videotools, etc. (I have a Marvel G400) When a file has been captured using YUY2, how exactly do you play it so the card will output the file to tape? Should I use another program, but how do I do this?

    Thanks

P.S. will the lines at the bottom of the screen using YUY2 be gone when it is transfered to tape? Is this because YUY2 underscans somehow?

Before you can transfer to VHS tape from the Marvel, you normally have to convert the signal to the native MJPEG format. This will possibly lower the quality somewhat, but it will still be far superior to Super-VHS, which can hardly resolve 300 horizontal equivalent-lines with the very best equipment, so you lose practically nothing.

If you have a Marvel G400 it's easy.

Just put the Display Drivers into Dualhead-DVDMax and anything played by MediaPlayer, MSPro etc. will go to the TV-Out.

This applies to YUY2, HuffYUV, RGB-anything, PICVideo MJPeg, MPEG-1/2, Cinepak, Indeo, DivX....you name it.

The only thing I can't get to play to the TV-Out is a 176x120 file.

You also might want to set DVDMax to scale the video to fill the frame instead of 4:3 for those non-Matrox standard frame sizes.
