  • PicVideo interlace

    Hey everyone

I have a G400tv and I am very pleased with it. Except its hardware codec, I think it is what causes Premiere to crash sometimes and it is incredibly slow in premiere also.
Therefore I wanted to try some alternatives.
Because I have lots of footage in Matrox MJPEG I tried the PicVideo codec, and it works... sort of.

The problem is that it shows two fields (of the interlaced matrox video) at the same time, making the playback look jerky.

Doesnt PicVideo support interlaced video or ???

I hope you can help me.

In the PICVideo setups there is an option to use interlace if the frame is >240 lines high, which is correct. If it isn't set for this then do so.

Also: your G400 editing setups should be set to field B and not A.

PICVideo doesn't care what the field order is on capture as it just blindly encodes them, but if you use the wrong one in the editor it's another story entirely.

Both fields will be shown on the comptuer monitor since it's non-interlaced. The only way to properly judge if there's a field order problem is to view the clip on a composite preview monitor or TV. If it jitters badly then the field order setting is likely wrong.
