  • Multiple file Error in MSP6 - Please Help

    Hi

    Its a new phenomenon in my comp. when I Preview render in MSP-6 (AVI or MPEG) the render process halt and I get this error message: "Multiple file playback error: preparation failure" [19205:9:1]

    I sow comments regarding this problem at Ulead's website however it refers to a specific video card which I do not use. Anyway I have tried their solution but it didn't help.

    My hardware details are at the bottom.

    Any suggestions?

    This has been covered here many times in the past. Use the Search function at this forum with the phrase "Multiple file playback error". I'm sure you'll find all the info you need.

      Thanks Patrick

      However, the search option does not work for me.

        Search engine is disabled because of the Parhelia thread related bandwidth problems.

        Multiple file playback errors are usually because the capture card drivers support Video for Windows and not DirectShow/OpenDML. While the article specifically denotes Matrox hardware this problem also applies to many ATI, Pinnacle and other products as well.

        I'm presuming the article suggested these changes to the C/WINNT/ulead32.ini file;

        [HardwareAcc]
        NotSaveOpenDML=1
        AviPlayEngineMCI=1

        [Playback]
        RenderAudio=1

        These entries will make MSPro compatable with a Video for Windows device, but you will lose the ability to save >2 gig files to NTFS volumes.

        If they didn't work for you then my suggestions are the following;

        1. uninstall MSPro and your cards capture and display drivers & reboot.
        2. re-install DirectX, the display & capture drivers and MSPro in that order.
        3. install all patches for MSPro 6

          Thanks Doc.

          I did try it and it didn't work for me.

          I'll do as you suggested and hope it'll work, I build this machine just for video editing so it is important to me have it work well.

          I'll let you know.

          BTW, I have to tell you all that I just started to cupture MPEG-2 directly from my DV camaorder (using the ATI AIW S-video) and the reasuts are very impressive, far better than TMPGEnc. conversion.
