    I want to beable to capture 30min-60min of video and ouput it back to tape at the same quality. What would be the best compression/format to use.
    I only have 30GB to work with.
    so uncompressed frames wont work.
    I guess I would need 704x480@29.97 w/ 44.1 and 16bit audio

    Those settings would require about 11+ gigs of space so it should work on your existing setup. The formula is;

    capture datarate (in megs/sec) * 3600 = megs/hour

    ex: 3.1 (megs/sec) * 3600 = 11,160 megs = 11+ gigs

    You could save some space by using the 22.05 khz quality audio instead of 44.1khz.

      So if I use MJPEG, my output should be the same quality as my input from the TV

        Definitely not.

        The best quality you will be able to achieve with this card via compression is using the HuffYUV codec. Encoding through MJPEG will be poorer quality. As HuffYUV will probably take up too much space for your requirements, I suggest you consider using an alternate MJPEG codec than the Marvels' Zoran chip, such as PicVideo or the Morgan codec.
