  • Which AVI codec is best for the average P200 computer?

    Here, in Bulgaria the average home computer is P133-P200 with 16-32MB RAM.
    Please advice me on a good codec that could play a full screen motion on that machine and can be bundled with a presentation.
    MPEG does the job well, but is not supported by most multimedia programs such as Power Point or Auto Play Menu Studio.

    Indeo is built into most all Windows systems and is often used in PP productions. Since Indeo is now a Ligos product and you should get the lastest version here;

      I second Doc's proposal for Indeo. The quality:file size ratio is superb. However, you may have difficulties with smooth playback with 200 MHz machines, especially at full screen, as this implies a good quality capture. Miracles take a little longer!

          I did a test

          I encoded my video with Indeo 5. The quality is very good. Now the question is how to detect if Indeo is installed on the client's machine.

            Go into their Control Panel and click Multimedia, select the Devices tab, then double click "video compression codecs." It's probably there. That one is pretty widespread.

              Hi!
              In which register key should I look to verify if Indeo 5 is present?
