  • Video Tools Freeze-ups

A persistent problem: Using powerdesk 5.41 and video tools 1.52 (tried Powerdesk 5.55 but it crashed all over the place), and Directx 7. When I do a fresh install of PD and VT all is well for a while, then Video Tools begins to freeze up when launching, requiring reset. Sometimes removing and reinstalling Vid Tools brings it back, sometimes rerunning Powerdesk setup makes Vid Tools work again, and sometimes it takes a full reinstall of Windows (v. 95B) to get things working again. In addition to Video Tools freeze-ups, Premiere and Media Player also refuse to launch. Verdict: possible corrupt codec. Question: Which one, and what do I do about it? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also running Adobe Premiere 4.2, Media Player 6.4, Sonic Foundry CD Architect 4.0, and Diamond Cut ART 3.09, but never any two at a time.

My system: Custom built AMD K6-2 300 Mhz,
FIC VA503+ motherboard, Award BIOS v. 4.62, VIA Apollo MVP3 chipset,
    96MB EDO RAM,
Matrox Marvel G200 AGP (BIOS upgrade v. 2.7),
    Maxtor 17 gig UDMA HDD,
    SAF Speed Writer CDRW,
    Goldstar 16x CD-ROM,
Media Vision ProAudio 16 Basic legacy sound card,
    Cirrus Logic 33.6 modem

    Thanx

Try PD 6.0 with VT 1.54. Pd6.0 now supports G200 and it looks like the VIA problems have been sorted.

My MVP3 chipset system is stable for the first time in ages! (G200+RR-G)
