  • what is the best card to record directly in mpeg

I have a feeling that it is not the pinnacle mp10 from reading their forum.
I have heard some good stuff about ati cards.
At the moment i am using a pinnacle dc10+ and converting the avi`s to mpeg with the panasonic encoder. I dont really need the ability to create video tapes very often. Would i be able to create better quality mpeg`s with another card than the dc10+ ?

Based on what I've read over at the VCD List <http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a.tcl?topic=Video%20CD> the best 'low-end' hardware MPEG-1 solution is the Broadway Pro <http://www.datatranslation.com/broadway/> but to get best results even with Broadway is to capture in I-frame mode and the software encode to full intra-frame MPEG. To go better looks like big bucks.
