(see previous posting "Continuing Matrox Software Problems" for background info)
Accidental discoveries are still the most important ones!
My system decided it didn't want to recognize my G200 as a tuner card anymore. Okay, fine. One more snafu to deal with. I reinstalled the G200, leaving the Breakout box disconnected, thought no more about it. Purely by accident, checking display properties for something unrelated, I noticed that the system once again recognized the TV Tuner. I reconnected the BOB, and the tuner went away. I disconnected the BOB again, and the tuner came back!
Too obvious to be true?
I have a query out to Matrox tech support for confirmation that my BOB is dead. Could I be this lucky that it's such a simple problem? Anyone else out there with an experience like this?
The lesson to be learned: Don't overlook ANYTHING!
Going to get very drunk now.
