  • Heat effect on mavel 400tv

    Hi Ya Folks,
It's been hot as blazes this past week, (air conditioner broke down but is now up and running ) anyways, I had to reboot my computer a couple of times a day during the hot days after my screen would lose horizontal and vertical sync. The picture on the screen would just go into small thin coloured lines. But once, the screen text and graphics separated into just a red text and red graphics, meaning that I would have a double image on my screen with the red text just slightly off, then after a while I lost sync and had to reboot. I turned off my monitor once, but it didn't solve the problem, only a reboot would bring me back to normal.
My question is would the higher heat affect the video card to do this?
Also I've just started back to doing archives of my VHS tapes (mjpeg win98se) and I'm really losing alot of frames. I used to have a frame drop after 10000 frames now I'm losing frames after 100 frames sometimes. Can my card be dieing?.
The only thing that has changed on my system is the uninstalling of some games and installing some learning games for my daugther ( Clifford the big red dog etc...)
    Thanks for any advice.
    Have a great day!

Yes it most certainly will have dire effects... have heard of others having their cards completely die on them as it got extremely hot where they lived inside and they didn't have adequite case ventilation ie G400 was cooled well enough.

Open your case and or add more/better case fans. Ensure PC is clean too as dust will also greatly impair cooling effeciency.

      Bummer,
But I should have known. I've had the case opened since last night and everything is running fine.
I also did another capture this morning with poor results, can uninstalling and installing software screwup enough settings or any settings that causes these droped frames?
      Thanks Greebe.

Oh most assured it can mess things up. What OS are you running?
