  • Viatech423 drivers,W2000 - question?

Ok, I am not getting any joy from Viatech or Gigabyte so let me ask the guys around here that may know:
From the Latest Via 423 driver installation readme file the following

“VIA 4 In 1 driver includes four system drivers to improve the performance and
maintain the stability of system using VIA chipset. These four drivers are:
VIA Registry (INF) Driver, VIA AGP VxD driver, VIA ATAPI Vendor Support Driver
and VIA PCI IRQ Miniport Driver. For Windows NT users, VIA IDE Bus Mastering
driver is only driver to be installed to your system”

Since I am running W2000, and cannot see any change in performance brought about by the installation of the new driver, I was wondering how to confirm the correct installation of this driver ie. Where can I find the version number on my system?

I am concerned that the driver does not actually install properly - on my system under “device manager” , the “Via bus mater IDE controller “ driver version is still listed as being supplied by Microsoft with a version number of 5.0.2183.1 and it is digitally signed by “Microsoft Windows 2000 Publisher” – I would have expected Via

Am I just being paranoid? – any feedback appreciated!
