  • RT2000 and 1394 HD working perfectly !!

On the unofficial RT2000 forum a chap by the name Gerry has finally figured it out!!

He's now got the RT2000 working with the Pyro 1394 HD kit, all he had to do though is change the drive itself maybe due to problems with the drive they shipped to him.

    Check out his post....
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Took out the 3.2Gb drive I was using in Pyro box... got nowhere.
    Put in the 36Gb Maxtor...and BINGO !

everything is there....all files etc, ok in win explorer.

wonder why other drive didnt work, perhaps older device no ID etc ?

Never mind, will test all my large drives tomorrow.

You have to deselect drive from taskbar icon before powerdown or removal, no problem there. Choice of two devices
1 Optical eg CDtom CDRW DVD
    2 Hard DRive

    Looks good

Will test DV EXPORT to Pyro tomorrow
will also connect to other PC for simulated shared Pyro HD.

Pyro is working off the RT2000 second DV port.

    Cheers

    Gerry

: gone smoothly so far, after 10
: mins now have item appearing in
: device control, but not working,
: it asks for win98se and has
: another go and now shows working
: ok....but no HD appearing in win
    : explorer
: says " Unable to download
    : time/date stamp "
: Not sure whether its trying to find a
: HD ID date etc as all product Inf
: boxes are greyed out.. eg
    : Vendor
    : ser no
    : HW Version
    : SW Version
    : Firmware Time/Date stamp
: I think because it needs a power down

WOW! That's really VERY good news for RT2000 owners, since the 1394 port can be used 'vanilla' like that! ...and all this time I thought RT2000 1394 port was some kind of proprietary alternative thingy that was kinda sorta 1394. I wonder if the DVRaptor 1394 port will also run one of these drive setups?

The RT-2000's IEEE-1394 port acts pretty much like a generic TI OHCI port. MSPro6 can do DV through it with no problems at all.
