  • Marvel G400-TV and WinXP

I'm aware that Matrox are not going to provide drivers etc. for the Marvel G400-TV and Video Tools under WinXP. So many complaints and yet so little action by Matrox.

I've read in a few places that using the latest Millenium G400 drivers and G450 eTV Video Tools may be used as a workaround. Has anybody managed to get the Marvel G400-TV working successfully under WinXP with Video Tools using this software?

If so, what are the limitations? i.e. can video still be captured using Video Tools? Is it stable?

    tooke.

I'm runing VT 210a and driver 584. Nothing special needed to be done, just install and away it goes - apart from the Australian UHF Tv channels _still_ being wrong, even after I posted to the Video editing forum several times before VT 204 was even released.... good one guys.

RGB capture doesnt work, but then again, who does RGB captures? Nor does hardware mjpeg, but with todays computers, you can run a software mjpeg and do just as well. The PVR features of the video tools are disabled underk w2k/xp so I capture using AVI_IO and huffyuv, works a treat for me.

After a couple of painful weeks of testing my Marvel G400-TV in WinXP-Pro I gave up and I am back with W2K-SP2.
I’ve had the PD 5.39 and VT 2.04 (hacked/or wise). It worked but,
      - I couldn’t get MSP6/6.5 to display a SW MJPEG (PICVideo) clip on TV.
      - I couldn’t change the PD settings from e.g. DualHead to Single Head display. XP tried to report the error to M$.
      - I am in a PAL land and using XP the PD switched from PAL to NTSC, without asking, when I rendered a clip in MSP6/6.5.
      - I couldn’t get PD 5.82/VT 2.10 to work as well as the 5.39/2.04 did.

If someone could explain how to force MSP 6.0/6.5 to display a PICVideo-rendered clip to TV (DVDMax-DualHead) then I should (maybe) go back to WinXP.
I asked the PICVideo guys, but they haven't any solution. They also blame Matrox for this issue.

So, my conclusion is that XP works, but W2K works much-much better. And W2K is faster and more stable with the Marvel G400.
