  • Win2K and Marvel G400TV

I have Marvel G400TV (PAL) card and Win2K final version. I got beta drivers (5.06.031 / 2.00.012) and I got things working, almost. I was able to capture video but in the end the system was frozen, typically I had to reboot, sometimes if I waited VERY long (15 minutes after 2 minutes capture) the system started responding. Captured file was OK, though. Now I can get only 10-45 secons of video captured. Everything seems to be OK during capture, even HD-led flashes and audio is captured full length. Re-installing video tools did not help. One thing I changed was installing (and then removing) QuickTime.
Any ideas? How well have you got Marvel 400 work with W2K?
ps. Hardware: AMD K-2/333, MSI 5169 motherboard with Ali-chipset, 128MB RAM, 2+4GB HDs

    Hi

Except for known bugs in the current beta W2000 drivers I am very happy - most important bugs as far as I am concerned is the fact that your machine may (read "will" in my case) crash on exit of any capture program using VFW (AVI_IO,MSP,PRemiere etc), and the fact that some users have a jittery/hopping output from BOB(me included)when you use the Matrox Mjpeg codec - fix for both on its way in the new drivers.

I can capture at 704x576 25 frames in Pal with AVI_IO without the 2G file limitation while dropping only 8 frames in 98 minutes(source dependant), string the captured avi files together in MSP6, edit and output to tape. I have to recompress (3hours for a 90 minute project) with Morgan Mjpeg codec in order to get good quality output from BOB.

Apart from that - installed easy, and runs my office on it without crashing 15 days at 24 hours a day (had to crash it in order to complete capture process) - not bad for beta software !

No hassles like what you are describing here

Hope you have the same joy eventually - Lots of info on Matrox user forum as well.

Running Quicktime 4.1.2 currently and previously 3 with no hassles either.
