  • Vidtools 2.02 broken component audio-in?

Got W2k with SP2 installed, running nice. Using PD 5.39 and VT 2.02 per the Docs suggestion in an earlier thread and so far everything seems to work ok, except (obviously) for TV-out.

Except that my Marvel G200 no longer receives audio from component-in. Bypassing the BOB works fine and might even be the better option, but I like things to fit in place (my anal nature and all).

It worked in W98 with VT 1.52, so I'm reasonably sure its not the BOB.

By the way, is there a trick to enabling the YUY capture option? Is it ok to us FD's W9x YUY patch or is there a W2k version floating around?

Upgraded to W2k to get the most from this fancy new 80 gig HDD I just installed. Incidently, is there a favored cluster size I should specify when formatting?

    So many questions!!

Been a while since I messed with a Marvel in Win2k, I had the G400 by the way.

If I remember right the VT hae the YUY2 enabled by default. They were there when I captured using AVI_IO and VDub. If not there is a patch for Win2k out there, I know that i could do it before I bailed and went with ATI.

      Hi,
Do I understand right that there's no way to get correct TV output of MJPEG files under win2k with a G200 based card? I have a G200+RR-G+TVO combo and besides TVO everything works fine. BTW, does 2.02 vt officially support MJPEG?

Apparently that is the case. I can capture MJPEG using VT 2.02 within the limits of my VIA chipset, but TV out is definitely broken. In my case, so is component audio in. I can run the audio input directly into my soundcard, but the sound level is abnormally low. An amplified audio mixer panel is definitely on my wishlist, right below the video switcher and the RT2500 (course, with the RT2500, I probably wouldn't need the amp'ed mixer).

By the way, has anyone tried the RT2500 in tandom with the Marvel G200? Matrox recommends the G450 with the 2500 but I was just wondering if it would work...

Please take a look at this thread. It's about the crippled TVO under win2k. It's a third guy who started it and since he seemed to give up I continued. If you have a Marvel you could write some lines just to show techsupp that it's not only the 2 of us who are affected.
BTW, what is this "component-in audio"? I almost have the same setup(VIA chipset+G200based capture+vt2.02(with PD5.72)+w2k+SP2) and capturing video and audio is OK, only playback on TV is crippled.

It was the TVO issue (among other things) that caused the ruckus last year when Matrox announced they were giving up on supporting the G200 and G400 Marvels (the ones using the Zoran Chipset for HW compression) under Win2k. Trust me, Matrox knows full well how P.O.ed users were over this!

The component audio input I'm referring to is the audio connection from the VTR to the BOB using the red and white RCA jacks and the connecting cable included with the Marvel. Nothing I do, no version of VideoTools or Powerdesk enables audio input through this connection. I can run the cable from the VTR directly to the line-in on my soundcard, but the sound level is way below normal.

I'm reasonably certain it isn't the BOB as it worked in Win98. Unfortunately Win98 no longer suits my needs and neither, evidently, does the Marvel G200 .

Hi, sorry for delay I was very busy in the meantime.
I see. What about a dualboot system? Currently I'm forced to use that because of the TVO issue.
