  • Serious Flask-problems

    Dear Sirs,

i could use some advisements regarding my DivX problems.
I try to rip the Scream DVD (region2, pal) - this is my first experience with DivX. The .vobs on the disc contained no keys,
so i simply copied the files to the hdd. Now i can play this rip back with Cinemaster without problems.
I tried to use FlaskMPEG to make the conversion, but the testfile was full with "green mans". The garbage was always on the same frames, and always on the same place. After some playing with Flask i saw the following 1) if i use the dvd-mode to open the movie the output will be garbaged. Even if i play the frames before the conversion with FlaskMPEG's player the garbage is already there. 2) if i open the separate .vob files (except the first one, which will start the dvd-mode) the FlaskMPEG-playback and the conversion will be free from the garbage.
I would like to set up Flask to process the whole movie, or find a different way to make a good conversion.

As addendum i like to say that i already de- and reinstalled the softwares and codecs, and i made the tests under NT4 and W98. I also tried with croping a resizing and without that. The result was everywhere the same.
    I also put a capture of a garbaged frame to http://www.austriainfonet.com/captured.jpg .

Thank you for all the opinions.

use vobdec to rip the dvd... the files are protected (the green stuff is a sort of protection)

I made the rip with the GUI. Still no success! After that i also 'demacro'-ed the vobs manually. Nothing changed, the garbage is there. If someone has an opinion i would be very very thankfull.

I also have read that before you start ripping, you need to start a DVD Player and open the DVD you want to rip. Then you can quit it, and start ripping. I think it's called something like 'authenticating' the dvd-romdrive....

        give it a try

Still no luck. I made a shrot testrun with an another DVD and that was free from the garbage. I have no idea what is wrong with the 'Scream'.
The first .vob contains some trailers and a werkfilm, but they can be converted garbage-free to DivX. The independent .vob-files (from the second one) can be also converted. Only that part on the first .vob is garbaged, what contains the actual movie.

Thanx for all the help dZeus!
