  • Streaming Media scrambled on TV

Hi, i know this isn't exactly a Desktop Video question but i guess you are still my best bet. My employer wants to use a G450's s-video out to display a live media stream from an internet newspage on a huge Panasonic projection TV. Basically everything is working like a charm but the actual stream. We have to use Real Media, because that's what the newspage provides, but while the stream is OK on the VGA monitor it is scrambled on the TV set. I asume that's some kind of DRM getting in action but to be sure i also tried a notebook with s-video out, using a SIS 630 or so graphics solution. same result, which hardens my DRM theory.

If you think it could be something different, please post.

You are usign DVD Max right?

Or are you cloning the desktop to TV?

If using DVDMAX with streaming video make sure you're using the streams aspect ratio and are not using field based scaling. These are the opposite of the settings used for full frame interlaced video.

This way the quality will be higher and you will see letterboxed video letterboxed on your TV.

Excuse the late answer, somehow i am unable to connect to the MURC over the university network and until now i didn't thought of trying it from home, duh.

Anyhow, i am cloning the desktop to the TV and i need to because in the final setup there will be no VGA monitor around. Thank you for your hints so far, but i can't test them.

Because another problem emerged: the G450 seems to be broken. Today i wanted to boot the "Video-PC" and all i got was a screen with choppy blocks and random vertical and horizontal lines that made reading anything but possible. After i replaced the G450 with a TNT2M64 card (i am so sorry...) the PC and Windows booted into standard VGA. So, now i have to wait for a replacement and considering the bureaucratic way of public spending this can take some time. Maybe i can get a replacement via warranty. The card is only a year old, but for this i have to get the bill from the administration, argh.

        Thanks again and till later.
