  • In-Synch BLADE realtime DV editor....

    The rush to software realtime is continuing....

    and click on the BLADE SOFTWARE link.

    With MSPro7 heading in the same direction it'll be interesting to see what shakes out in the next few months.....

    Good looking product. Reading the description, it sounds very much like Vegas Video 3.0, which I have been using for some months. in-sync is good name, normally associated with much more expensive packages.

    As for realtime software and harnassing the power of the CPU, I love it. No reason to pay for expensive chips on every card you add you your system, when powerful software, a 1394 card and a kick-butt CPU can get the job done quite well.

    Are you, by any chance, getting to beta this new offering from
    in-sync?

      I'm not betaing it but have offered a trial license.

      In the emal I found these statements interesting;

      "The following effects and transitions can NOT be previewed on the VGA and the external monitor: Scale, 3D DVE, border, crop, glass texture, any effect applied to the titles.vfx, matte effect, picture in a picture, 1 point, 2 point, 3 point, 4 point tracking, ripple, stabilize, twirl, dissolve transition, field cut transition, an effect with a source that isn't sourced to anything"

      "The following effects are too slow to be previewed in real time: Circle blur, Gaussian blur, Glow, Raindrop, all pushes and slide transitions, Page curl transition, Picture Square Transition, Square Transition, Squash Transition, Squeeze Transition"

      This all seems a bit limiting to me after using Matrox's RT cards. We'll see when it arrives....

      As for the hw/sw realtime "issue", I believe the RT.X100 has the right mix being both a hardware and software realtime device. Some things are done in hardware while others are best offloaded to the CPU.

      This is what "Power of X" is all about. Because it can offload to the CPU as they become faster more types of effects and more layers of video can be implemented in realtime with just driver updates instead of having to replace the whole board. This is also why the firmware on the board is upgradable.

        Thanks for the details. That is quite an extensive list of stuff that still must be prerendered. The package itself, though, still looks exciting. It will be interesting to see what some of the upcoming processors can do with realtime.
